commissioning an original painting

Preserving a special memory or a recreating a vacation scene in your living room are excellent ideas for commissions. Paintings of a treasured musical instrument can display your passion for music and your beloved instrument. These ideas can make very special, meaningful gifts for people who hold a special place in you life.

An original watercolor painting or oil can be commissioned by Jenny Floravita. First an idea must be discussed with the artist. It is helpful to know where you might want to hang your painting. The artist should see the space the work is intended for by either visiting the location or through photographs.

A meeting via phone or in person is arranged. A size and price are agreed upon. Once a visual idea is communicated, the artists will do 1–3 sketches and present this round of concepts. When the composition is accepted, the artists will begin working on the painting. Ms. Floravita will communicate how much time is needed to complete your original painting but a typical period of time is 4–6 weeks. At some point in the middle, the artist will either send photos or present the work half way in progress, if necessary. Though the composition will already be committed, this early viewing could allow a shift in colors to match a wall color or fabric, if this is a concern.

Your finished painting will then be shipped or delivered to you unframed with details on how to care for your original painting. Jenny does not accept portrait commissions.
